Global Oil Shale Plc (GOS) is a leading company involved in the development and commercial use of large scale surface oil shale resources for production of electricity, shale oil and associated infrastructure materials, including cement, clinker and prefabricated concrete. The main focus of GOS is currently on the launch of the Tarfaya, Morocco oil shale project which is in the initial phase. The project combines the production of electricity and the production of cement using the surface oil shale resource as a main raw material. The conversion of oil shale to energy is based on a proven and operating CFB (Circulating Fluidised Bed) type process which has been developed and deployed in Finland for more than 40 years. The CFB technology is environmentally efficient for the use of low grade fuels, including surface oil shale. Tarfaya project is in a late stage development phase and aiming at electricity, liquid products and use of ashes in associated cement production. The launch timetable is planned for 2020 - 2021 and the cement and clinker production is mainly aimed for exports to the growing Sub-Saharan African markets. GOS additionally holds 3 billion tons of oil shale resources in Julia Creek, Australia, for a project aimed at shale oil production and development, which is pending due to current market prices of oil. The parent company of GOS is Cemos Group Plc, which was established in 2011 by Baker Steel Resources Trust, a London Stock Exchange listed resources fund and ECAP Investments and currently has more than 80 shareholders.
