GOS is pursuing a strategy to become a major shale oil producer and technology "know-how" owner in the near-surface oil shale sector. The Company is focused on developing world class oil shale projects in key oil shale jurisdictions, including Morocco (Tarfaya) and Australia (Julia Creek), and upcoming projects in Israel and Jordan. GOS acquired and consolidated oil shale resources licences at Julia Creek, Australia, and completed first drilling programme there to delineate the resource and obtain oil shale samples for thermal process testing. In April 2014, GOS signed an MOU with the Moroccan state for exploration and appraisal in Tarfaya South oil shale deposit, targeting an ultimate 50,000 barrel per day oil shale project.
GOS is employing proven Oil Shale to Liquids (STL) processes for the initial production stages of its projects. At the same time GOS is undertaking a number of technology development programmes, covering areas such as oil shale beneficiation and fast pyrolysis processing, to improve and optimise the STL processes that will be employed as the Company expands its projects to commercial scale. GOS has brought together some of the world's leading experts in oil shale extraction and processing and entered into a number of partnerships with leading engineering, oil shale marketing and logistics companies. The Company and its partners are advancing on full feasibility studies for the commercial development of Tarfaya and Julia Creek deposits.
